PilotLog: Mobile Flight Currency Companion

This project involved building a cross-platform mobile application (iOS and Android) designed specifically for professional pilots to manage their flying activity, personal compliance, and operational readiness. The app focuses on the real-world needs of active pilots—such as tracking regulatory currency, logging flights, and receiving smart reminders—all through a lightweight, intuitive interface.
Core Functionality
  • User Account System: Pilots can create and manage personal profiles with secure login and registration flows.
  • Flight Logging: Add and organize flight history including date, route, aircraft type, and approach details.
  • Currency Monitoring: Automatically track important currency metrics like: medical certificate validity, night and instrument currency, number of recent approaches
  • Smart Reminders: The system notifies users about upcoming expirations or missing requirements, helping them stay compliant.
  • Logbook Import: Supports integration and syncing from third-party logbook platforms.
  • Report Generation: Easily generate reports summarizing recent flight activity, certifications, or operational gaps.
Design Considerations
The app is designed for professional use - clear typography, fast UI, minimal distractions. It borrows design patterns from existing aviation platforms, but simplifies them for mobile-first use.

  • Screen 2: Flight Dashboard (summary of active flights, currency status alerts, visual indicators for expired items)
